What is the NZMBA?

logoThe NZMBA was formed as a self-regulatory body to promote professionalism in the mortgage broking industry.

You have the comfort of dealing with a Mortgage Broker who, through our business, is committed to promoting the professionalism of the industry through regulation and agreed standards and ethics.

As a member of the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association, we can assist you to make a fully informed decision concerning your mortgage. This is a major decision and we suggest you seek professional assistance with making it.

Why use a member of the NZMBA
To become a member of the NZMBA, brokers must have:

  • All members must complete and pass an approved training and accreditation programme
  • A proven history of relevant experience
  • A full range of product types and options on offer
  • An acceptable personal record
  • No ratified public objection to their membership
  • Approval from at least six major financial institutions
  • At least $1 million in professional indemnity insurance cover

How do you know if you are dealing with an NZMBA accredited member?
You can ask the broker! Only fully accredited Members can display the NZMBA logo and promote themselves as members. If you are unsure whether your broker is a member, contact the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association.
